Residents of Kiandutu slums in the outskirt of Thika town will have a reason to smile Kiambu county governor William Kabogo proposed the establishment of Police station in the area to beef up security in the region.
The police station will immensely boost the security of Kiandutu slums which was alarming for the past few years where cases of rape, drug and substance abuse was the rhythm of life.
Kabogo revealed that plans are underway in purchasing a land in the area to construct a police station and upgrade an Administration Police station which he says will help tame insecurity in the area.
According to the governor, the construction will take a maximum of 7 months where by November the residents will start enjoying the services of the police in the area bearing in mind festive season is always the most risky period.
He urged the residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative to fish out criminals from the community and burnish them so as they may be prosecuted in the court of law.
“Let’s embrace Nyumba Kumi to help the police officers to serve us in the right manner, but if we don’t security will still be a major problem in the area,” Said the Kabogo.
The governor who was speaking on Thursday at Kiandutu slums challenged families who keep criminals in their homestead in fear of intimidation assuring them they have no reason to fear due to the beefed security that will be in the slums.
