A section of residents from the Nyamira County have raised concerns over the youth from Masaba North District going to Amabuko, in Masaba South District, which is in Kisii County for the police recruitment exercise.
The locals, led by politician and business man Victor Swanya have called on the national government to hold talks with the county government of Nyamira over the matter, to ensure that people of Masaba North District are not overlooked.
Swanya said that the matter has caused a lot of confusion, adding that it might cost most youths from Masaba North their place in the police recruitment exercise.
He added that the government, together with area leaders should look into the matter and at least give Masaba North one recruitment station.
“When police recruitment is being done, the station used by people from Masaba North is Masaba South, which is in Kisii County, and we feel that sometimes we are denied opportunities,” said Swanya.
“That is the reason why I want to ask the government to make it is easy for us by giving us one station here in Masaba North. It can even be at Gesima,” he said.
Kiabonyoru Ward MCA James Sabwengi called on the youths to turn out in large numbers for the police recruitment exercise.
