A section of leaders from Nyamira now want President Uhuru Kenyatta to immediately disclose the fate of five suspended Cabinet Secretaries and name their replacements.
According to them, many activities in affected dockets were slowly being implemented due to absence of a full time minister to oversee the ministries performances.
Led by Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire on Sunday during a funds drive at Kambini region, they expressed their concern on the affected dockets and urged President Kenyatta to name new faces as a way of restoring confidence among Kenyans over fight against graft.
“I think he (Kenyatta) has taken long to name cabinet ministers in the dockets that were affected on corruption allegations. This is the time he should disclose the fate of the ministers who stepped aside and if possible replace them urgently because it’s difficult for ministries to perform their functions with an acting CS,” Bosire said.
Mr Victor Swanya a politician in the area said the President should act swiftly to fill his cabinet since the constitution recommended a minimum of 14 cabinet secretaries.
“It will be a constitutional violation if he works with 13 Cabinet Ministers now that Waiguru has resigned. The constitution is very clear at that and he has no option other than making the replacements or recalling those who stepped aside urgently,” Swanya said.
Five cabinet secretaries stepped aside over graft allegations. They include Felix Kosgey, Kazungu Kambi, Charity Ngilu, Michael Kamau and David Chirchir.
