Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has hit out at politicians pushing the dynasties narrative.
Speaking on Wednesday on the Pointblank show aired on Standard Media Group-owned Kenya Television Network, the outspoken former legislator appeared to suggest that it was wrong for politicians to be disparaged based on the families they come from.
"On the issue of dynasties, should we begrudge people because they were born in rich families?" he asked.
He went on to add that the dynasties narrative was informed by pettiness and no appreciable substance.
The remarks of Kabando wa Kabando were aimed at Deputy President Dr William Ruto who has long styled himself as a hustler and not part of the so-called dynasties.
About two months ago during an anniversary commemoration of his father's death, President Uhuru Kenyatta appeared to chastise politicians attacking him as a scion of a dynastic family, saying that leaders should be judged based on their leadership abilities and not their family background.
DP Ruto allies have charged that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is being pushed by dynasties so as to lock him out of the presidential race.
President Uhuru and veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader are regarded as coming from dynasties given that their fathers held top political positions in the country.
