Activist and politician Boniface Mwangi has launched a scathing attack on Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja after he endorsed the government's bid to raise the debt ceiling.
Sakaja is among the Senators who gave the National Treasury a nod in its bid to raise the ceiling to Sh9 trillion, which has landed him in trouble with Kenyans online, including Mwangi.
While the majority have questioned his action, after years of claiming to stand for what benefits Kenyans, Mwangi has said that Sakaja is an unreliable man, who cannot be trusted.
In a tweet on Thursday, he likened him to Wiper Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka, whom he observed is equally a weak decision maker, always open for swaying.
He noted that Sakaja has inherited Kalonzo's behaviour, and is now a fence sitter without a steady stand, and is always ready to endorse President Uhuru Kenyatta's wills.
According to Mwangi, the Senator has also failed in his mandate as an oversight body, and has not been keeping city governor Mike Sonko in check as is expected of him.
"Senator Sakaja Johnson has no spine to go against the grain. He is a modern day version of Kalonzo Musyoka, a cowardly, fence sitter. Sakaja is President Uhuru’s rubber stamp! He is even afraid of holding Governor Mike Sonko accountable. Sakaja is playing survival politics. Shame," he wrote.
Sakaja and his Makueni counterpart Mutula Kilonzo Jnr have been basking in fame and admiration as the revolutionary duo, which is out to protect Kenyans from bad policies.
On the other hand, Kalonzo has since been nicknamed 'watermelon' by fellow politicians, claiming that he never has a firm stand.
