Uasin Gishu county is determined to improve the quality of education and infrastructure in the Early Childhood Development centres for children to undertake their education smoothly.
Speaking on Friday after commissioning a 250 pupil ECD centre at Cheptigit, Governor Jackson Mandago said they will ensure all ECDs have a modern look and fully stocked with books.
"In this Financial Year, my government has set aside Sh30 million for the construction of modern ECD classes which is under way," he said.
He said that his government has also employed one thousand ECD teachers who will help in offering quality education to pupils.
"Since ECD was devolved to county governments, we will ensure that our children get quality education and their teachers paid well to increase their morale in teaching and avoid strikes," he said.
Mandago urged Uasin Gishu residents to take their children to school since it is the only investment that a parent can pass to his/her children.
"I give a stern warning to parents who do not take their children to school and instead use them as a means to get income, will be arrested and charged for child negligence."
