Hundreds of mourners thronged the home of a Nyamira Youth Senate leader on Monday to condole the family following his tragic death in a road accident near Chepilat Trading Centre.
Untiul his death, Paul Nyaporo was the head of operations in the youth senate has been praised for his unrelenting pursuit for equity and transparent governance.
Speaking on Monday during the funeral arrangement of the fallen youth hero, Nyamira Youth Senate Chairman, Jason Mogire called for unity among the youth.
“As the Youth Senate, we are really sad with his sudden demise and his vast leadership skills in matters governance will be missed. He has been advocating for equity and quality representation of the youth in the county positions and the county should honour him by respecting the plight of the youth,” he said.
They questioned the 30 percent of tenders set aside for the youth, people with disability and women and dared the county government to table documents showing whether they were complying with the law.
“As youth, we are really dissatisfied with the whole process of tendering and the county government should come with documents to prove us wrong. This is the time they have to yield to our calls and pave way for inclusiveness in county leadership by enabling us have a say,” Mogire said.
According to them, they will use the youth leaders funeral to initiate a forum to push for more appointments to various county jobs and vowed to oppose the 5-year experience they say is set for most jobs by the Nyamira Public Service Board.
