Kisii County government has been urged to construct a centre for people with disabilities.
Addressing county officials and members of the public on Tuesday at Gusii stadium during Mashujaa Day celebrations, Kennedy Mouko, president of persons with disabilities said that they needed support to build the center which will empower them.
He revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta, after holding talks with Sister Kristina Pratt accepted to support people with disabilities by donating funds for the centre, urging the county government to provide land for the facility.
“We urge our county leaders to help us to build our center so that it can be a meeting point of all people with disabilities," said Mr Mouko.
He also urged the county government to provide adequate resources that will help them have a 'better celebration' on December 3 this year during international day of people with disabilities.
“We ask the county government to provide us with resources so that when the day comes we can celebrate together," added Mr Mouko.
