Ndumberi Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mr Ngugi Uiru has urged police officers in the area to beef up security and deal with criminal elements terrorising residents.
Speaking to journalists at the Ndumberi shopping centre on Friday, the MCA raised concern over the rise in criminal activities in some parts of the ward and called for more police patrols.
The MCA said he had received complaints from traders and business people over rise in insecurity in the area.
He said the government’s major responsibility is to provide and ensure security of all residents.
“I am concerned about the increasing complaints from residents over rise in crime. I would like to ask law enforcers in this area to step up their surveillance,” he said.
The MCA said that security is the backbone of development adding that it must be provided at all times. He called on the county commissioner to investigate and address security concerns in the area.
A section of residents and businessmen have raised concern over insecurity in the area and the existence of criminal gangs that rob and mug residents.
Speaking to journalists in Kiambu town on Wednesday, Kiambu County Deputy Commissioner Nobert Komora warned criminals causing havoc in the area.
Komora said criminals will be dealt with according to the law and asked residents to report cases of crime on time to allow police to carry out investigations and arrest culprits.
