Gatundu North Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Nyamiti has assured residents that security has been beefed up in the sub county ahead of the Christmas holiday.
The commissioner who was speaking in Kamwangi on Tuesday said police were on high alert and that criminals out to terrorise residents would be dealt with ruthlessly.
"I urge members of the business community and residents to report any cases of theft to the police immediately it happens so that the criminals can be arrested," he said.
"Some people are taking too long to report the incidents, delaying their reports give the suspects ample time to escape," he added.
Mr Nyamiti however, urged residents to work closely with the police and volunteer information about any suspects.
He said the area chiefs are informed to tour their areas to listen to the issues affecting them and thus averting chances of crimes in the area.
His sentiments come after a recent cases where criminals broke into an MPESA shop and stole money.
