A man was on Friday fined Sh30,000 by a Nakuru court for stealing a solar panel and a milk can.
Peter Mwaniki pleaded guilty to allegedly stealing a solar panel, assorted cloths, shoes and a milk can both valued at Sh19,450 from Peter Njoroge on June 26 at Kwa Lord village in Mirangine sub-location within Nyandarua County.
According to the prosecution, Njoroge lost his property and efforts to trace them were futile so he reported the matter to police. On August 15, Peter Mwaniki was found looking for a buyer for the stolen items after which he was arrested and taken to Mirangine Police station.
Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liza Gicheha, he pleaded guilty and begged for forgiveness, saying that he wanted something to sustain his family because his grandfather chased him.
"I have a family and I was trying to find means to sustain myself, my grandfather chased me out of his house," he said
He was fined Sh30,000 or risk a jailed term of of 11 months. The prosecution applied that the exhibits be released to the owner.
