Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto will soon launch a political party that he will use as a stepping stone to national politics, a source privy to the meeting (not authorised to speak on behalf of attendees) he held on Saturday with a section of Nyamira leaders has revealed.

Ruto held a 2 hour meeting with leaders from Borabu constituency mainly from Jubilee Alliance allied parties at Kasarani Hotel in Chepilat township when he paid a visit to families that lost their loved ones in a deadly road accident along Kisii- Nairobi highway on Friday.

On Monday, the source said Mr Ruto was keen to form his outfit that he will use to woe Kenyans to support his planned 2022 bid for the top job.

“The Governor was keen to form a political party that he will use as a vehicle in 2022 presidential polls. He is keen with his neighbouring Nyamira, Kisii and South Rift to have a bigger bargaining power and the party will be launched soon,” said the source.

According to the source, the process of coming with the political outfit is in the final stages and the same will be communicated with the public soon.

“I think he doesn't intend to look back. The party is almost in place only that the strategists are finalising the deal. The public will know soon,” added the source.

The leader of the delegation, also Mekenene MCA Alfayo Ngeresa, could neither deny nor admit the speculations but insisted the Governor was free to meet with Jubilee leaders from the county.

“Well, I don’t know about that (political party) but I think he has a right to form a party and sell its manifesto to the electorate. As Nyamira leaders, we are also free to join any outfit as long as we are impressed by the manifesto,” he said.

Ruto has been having a sour relationship with Jubilee leaders and he has publicly opposed formation of Jubilee Alliance Party.
