In a dramatic early morning raid, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Police officers in Nakuru on Friday arrested a suspected carjacker and recovered a stolen vehicle.
The car and other property were suspected to have been stolen from motorists at Makao estate off the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
Charles Otieno, the operation’s commander told this writer that the suspect was arrested after a series of investigations by CID officers.
He said the suspect identified as Samuel Ndegwa, in his late twenties, is believed to be a member of highway robbers who have been terrorising motorists on Nakuru-Nairobi and Nakuru-Eldoret highways.
“We have been following this gang and this guy will help us get his accomplices. This car had been reported stolen a week ago and our intelligence sources traced it here,’’ said Otieno.
He added that his five-man team also recovered two laptop computers and four expensive mobile phones from the suspect.
Residents of the residential quarter where the suspect was arrested said the suspect had been changing cars now and then and claimed to be a car dealer.
