Nakuru County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto has hit on hawkers complaining that the stalls in the town are being distributed to outsiders.
Ruto said Nakuru is cosmopolitan town and any one is free to work in the town.
“This is our town and everyone is welcome to invest in it. Nakuru, Elburgon, Naivasha and Gilgil traders are welcomed. I do not find the reason why hawkers are complaining of illegal distribution,” says Ruto.
Ruto was addressing journalist in his office where he assured hawkers that they will get the kiosks the county government has set aside.
“I want to assure them that each of them will get proper places to carry out his business. They should not feel threatened that some people are getting the kiosks,” said Ruto.
His views comes a few days after hawkers threatened to protest over the illegal distribution of the stalls.
Joseph Macharia said that it was illegal for the outsiders to get the stall yet they were the ones who were chased out of the stalls.
“The other sub counties were not affected. I am yet to understand why they are being priority,” says Macharia.
