Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer has supported the merger of jubilee affiliate parties to form a new party to use during the 2017 general elections.
Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, Terer said that the idea to do away with the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) and replace it with the Jubilee Party of Kenya is welcome.
He says JAP has developed mistrust, suspicion and wrangling between members due to lack of consultations on its formation.
"I hope that the Jubilee Party of Kenya will include all tribes in the country and involve all affiliate parties whether small or big in the jubilee government and should make sure that all parties are consulted before embarking on disbanding them and forming one formidable party," he said.
He stressed that the party must be formed very early for members to start selling its agenda to the public for it to gain support during the 2017 general elections.
"Having one formidable party will help us win many seats and much support from the public since we will have one manifesto and it will thus be easy to drum support for the party and at the end of the day we will win the elections ovrwhelmingly since everyone will be campaigning in the name of Jubilee Party of Kenya," he added.
This comes after the jubilee government appointed Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi and former cabinet minister Noah Wekesa to oversee the merger.
