Speaking today at Thigio Shopping Centre, Ndeiya Ward of Limuru Sub County in Kiambu County, the residents said that the county government has side-lined them in infrastructure development.

“Road networks in Thigio area are in deplorable conditions, a situation that is scaring away investors,” said Josphine Wanja, a shopkeeper at the centre.

She has allegedly closed her shop due to stagnant water at her doorstep.

Joseph Theuri, a teacher at Thigio Primary School says that bridges are in wanton situation.

“We fear that school-going children risk being drowned because bridges are weak,” said Theuri.

He urged the Kiambu County government to prioritise infrastructure development in the area to give a new breath to residents who are suffering due to poor roads

The residents have now called on Ndeiya MCA Nelson Munga to move swiftly and help end their sufferings.

“We want Munga to help in addressing the poor state of the roads to enable us access markets,” said Arthur Kinyanjui, a farmer in Thigio.

The residents also say that the stagnant water pose a health crisis to them unless urgent action is taken.

The country has been witnessing heavy rains recently with some areas being severely affected leading to displacemnets and destruction of property.

This afternoon Devolution CS Anne Waiguru had to make an emergency visit to Narok after heavy flooding hit the area leading to loss of lives and business interruptions.
