Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has asked Kibra residents to turn out in large numbers to ensure Imran Okoth wins the by-election in the constituency.
Addressing journalists moments after casting his vote, Raila said that he cannot afford to lose the Kibra seat to an outsider.
The African Union special envoy also said that the voting process was the only way that could enable him to remain relevant in Kibra.
"I urge those who have not voted to come out from their residences and vote today. We are in our bedroom and I want to urge our people to protect our bedroom against infiltration and outsiders," he said.
He also said that he is glad that the process had kicked off smoothly and reminded the residents not to be lured with money to vote for other candidates.
Raila argued that the proceeds of graft will not transform the region in the coming years and further reminded the residents to make a wise decision that will benefit them at the end of the day.
"I have voted and the process was smooth. It is not about dishing money, that is corruption. We want Kibra to make a choice and express their democratic right," he added.
