Kenya Premier League newbies Kisumu All Stars have announced the signing of Sweden based midfielder ahead of the 2019/2020 KPL season set to kick off next weekend.

John Owira Otieno joins the Kisumu County sponsored side on a two year contract. “Owira John Otieno is a Blue Eagle! The attacking midfielder joins us on a 2 year contract from Dalhem IF in Sweden,” All Stars announced on Friday. Owira is a former Bandari FC player.

He joined Swedish side Dalhem IF in 2016 in a move that was facilitated by former Kenyan International Robert Mambo. 

He joins a wide range of players that have already joined Stars as the team continues to prepare for its maiden season in the Kenyan Premier League.

Initially, All Stars had signed Arthur Ochung’ from Kisumu HotStars, Charles Bruno from Mount Kenya United, Mark Kwasira from Modern Coast Rangers, Steve Otieno, Patrick Ochieng, Maxwell Onyango, Jeconia Ogendo from Sony Sugar and Martin Oduor from Western Stima among others.

All Stars got a KPL promotion slot after finishing second in the second tier, National Super League (NSL) behind Champions Wazito FC during the 2018/2019 season.

 Kisumu All Stars will open the 2019/2020 League campaign against Ulinzi Stars in Kisumu on August 31.
