Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has vowed to work with Thirdway Alliance party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot in realising that the Punguza Mizigo bill is passed.
Taking to his Facebook on Sunday, the legislator lauded Aukot's initiative to reduce the wage bill, a project he revealed he fronted in 2015.
"In 2015, I launched Punguza Mzigo movement with a view to reducing the size (And cost) of our representation and as a critical moral pillar in a national consciousness towards public service reform and reducing our unacceptably high recurrent expenditure," reads part of Kuria's post.
Kuria while lamenting a section of leaders who are opposing the bill noted that, Aukot's Punguza Mizigo bill only lack some things that can be incorporated by having a discussion.
"Dr Aukot and myself have agreed to put a team together with a view to harmonizing our Punguza Mzigo visions and reflect the consensus through a refined and enhanced Bill. I have further encouraged Dr Aukot to welcome other Kenyans in that endeavour as long as it is in the spirit of Punguza Mzigo," added Kuria.
Punguza Mizigo bill being fronted by Aukot seeks to reduce the ballooning wage bill by scrapping the number of elective members in various legislative assemblies.
If it goes through, the positions of Women Representatives, nominated MPs, Senators and MCAs will be done away with.
