The leaders have now vowed to organize demos in protest against the same.

They have threatened to camp outside the National Treasury to air their grievances.  The politicians have also said that they will seek legal redress at the Supreme Court over the matter.

They have insisted that the move by the National government to reduce revenue allocation from Sh335 billion to sh310 billion.

Speaking when they converged at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Friday, the leaders affirmed that they will not change their tune unless they get what they want.

The meeting was attended by various leaders including Governors Anyang’ Nyong’o (Kisumu), Mwangi wa Iria (Muranga), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), Cornel Rassanga (Siaya), Paul Chepkwony (Kericho), Ali Roba (Mandera) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega).

The Senators were represented by Naomi Shionga (Nominated), Cleophas Malala (Kakamega), and Gertrude Musuruve (Nominated).

The lawmakers said that what is transpiring in the country is what was being witnessed some decades back.

The leaders have promised to defend their revenue allocation as they seek to leave behind legacies before they complete their terms in office.

“What is happening now is a replica of what happened in 1966 when the independence government abolished senate and killed Majimbo system of governance. Devolution is here to stay and we will fight for it in the streets as from Monday,” said Wangamati.
