Uasin Gishu County Assembly nominated MCA representing people with disability Flora Cheptum has faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent appointment of ministers and principal secretaries for not considering the disabled.

Speaking at the county Assembly on Tuesday, Cheptum said people with disability have been sidelined in major government appointments and yet they have what it takes to perform.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has really ignored us people with disability by not putting aside even one position to be filled by one of us so that we may feel represented,” she said.

The MCA said people with disability are really disappointed with the President and called on him to reshuffle his Cabinet and include at least one person with disability.

“We are people just like the normal ones, why are we being neglected, sidelined and yet some of us are even more qualified than the normal people is it because of our physical appearance? Don’t judge us by our physical appearance but what we can bring on the table,” she added.

She urged Uhuru to listen to their pleas and give them a chance to participate in the running of the country by appointing them to senior positions.

“By not appointing one of our own to the top position, we feel not represented since we don’t have anyone to represent our pleas,” she added.
