Kisii County MCAs have been urged to commence Bunge Mashnani Initiative in their wards to collect views from the resident on development projects that would benefit them and issues affecting them.

The residents lodged the plea after realising that the initiative was being practised by other MCAs from other regions.

They said the initiative helps in creating a strong bond between leaders and citizens and it helps in addressing challenges facing locals.

Speaking on Friday in Kisii town, a section of area residents led by Jackson Bosire said that Nyamira and Migori counties were practising the initiative and it was time their leaders borrowed a leaf from them.

They challenged Kisii County government through MCAs and governor James Ongwae to start the initiative as soon as possible to raise their living standards.

“We want Bunge Mashinani Initiative in our wards, we have a lot that we want addressed by our MCAs who just sit in their offices and have not fulfilled most of their promises since they were elected,” said Bosire.

According to Cecilia Moseti, a resident, MCAs should go to the ground to establish the kind of development projects that can benefit the people, and not just sitting in offices and in the County Assembly.
