Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has launched the county’s agriculture, livestock and fisheries strategic plan.

Kabogo said agriculture is the predominant economic activity in the country, involving 80% of the population, adding that the county was looking to  benefit from the project.

“This project will help to eradicate unemployment in the county and enhance food security,” noted Kabogo.

He said that his government is focusing on farmers’ empowerment to eradicate starvation and train young farmers to have special skills and knowledge in farming.

“I am committed to creating an enabling environment for the realisation of the agricultural development objectives envisaged in the strategic plan we have launched today,” said Kabogo.

He added that he will ensure emphasis is given to the farming sector investment, value addition and technology transfer to the county at large.

The county boss revealed that plans are underway to establish a workshop in the Kiambu County community to sensitise them on importance of farming.
