A family in Mombasa has agreed to demolish a church where a pastor had killed his estranged wife before he committed suicide.
Pastor Elisha Misiki Nyadoya of God’s Gospel Church from Kiembeni area, Bamburi in Mombasa shocked many early January when he stabbed his wife Anne Mghoi before he stabbed himself on the chest and neck.
Kisauni Sub-county Deputy Police Commander William Cheruiyot said the relatives of the two have agreed to demolish the church and sell the land.
The church was demolished on Sunday while members of the family and church members watched the demolition which was supervised by local administrators.
“We are aware of the 3G church ministries demolition. Both parties came to us with a drafted agreement which we approved,” said Cheruiyot.
Nyadoya was in charge of the church which was founded by Mghoi on his land and after their separation, Mghoi started her church in Taita Taveta.
The family of the two last week agreed that all proceeds from the sale of the plot will go to Nyadoya’s mother, Margaret Nyadoya who will adopt the children of her son and Mghoi.
Violet Nyadoya, Nyadoya’s younger sister, speaking to standardmedia.co.ke said the family last week agreed that proceeds from the sale will be used for the five children’s education.
“Both families have come to an agreement that the plot be handed over to Elisha’s family and the children are free to go to their father’s family,” said Violet.
The pastor in his suicide note claimed that his wife was cheating on him and was plotting to take the church from him.
