Nyamira County residents have been assured of tight security ahead of the festive season.
Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba argued that police officers across the county are on high alert to deal with any criminal.
"I can confirm that security has been heightened in Nyamira day and night during this season residents are preparing to celebrate Christmas and New Year. No criminal should be spared since our officers are on high alert," said the county security boss on Friday in Nyamira town.
He appealed to local chiefs to work closely with Nyumba Kumi officials to flush out criminals who might be hiding in villages with an intention to terrorize innocent and unarmed residents.
Mariba further warned residents against indulging into illegal businesses such as the sale of illicit liquor saying festive season does not mean people should engage in outlawed businesses.
"I wish to remind the people of Nyamira that the sale of illicit liquor won't be condoned during this festive season. Locals should celebrate the festive season in peace," he added.
The commissioner further reiterated that night clubs and entertainment joints in Nyamira should not allow underage boys and girls and said such facilities will be closed down should underage teenagers be found inside at night.
