Renowned Somali activist Abdi Omar Yallahow who championed the compensation of the victims of the Wagalla massacre has been mourbned.
Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan took to Twitter on Thursday to express his sadness at the passing on of the veteran activist.
The governing Jubilee party lawmaker described the late Yallahow as a courageous and committed activist.
"Really sorrow to hear the death of my friend Abdi Omar Yallahow. A courageous and committed activist who spoke out and exposed the atrocities committed by the MOI-KANU regime in NEP. Tnxs to him the world came to know about the terrible 1984 Wagalla massacre in Wajir, " the Kamukunji legislator wrote on Twitter.
The Wagalla masacre, for which the late activist sought compensation for the victims, occurred during the administration of the then president Daniel Moi.
The security forces are accused of descending on Somalis in Wajir and committing gross human rights violations that resulted in scores of deaths.
