Atwoli is among Western Kenya leaders who have been fully behind the planning of the event, which is set for the Bukhungu Stadium.

Speaking when he visited the venue to observe the progress of the preparations yesterday, the Trade Unionist said that the meeting will be heavily attended, by millions of people.

He also noted that it will be aired live on television, urging locals and specifically members of the Luhya community to come out in large numbers as it's for their own good.

“The Luhya nation must be there in the BBI process. If there will be positions, we will be there and our interests must be protected. Millions of Luhyas will be attending the meeting either physically or following it on live TV," he said.

On his side, Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who has also been involved in the arrangements, claimed that the event will also be attended by the BBI initiative founders.

The county boss claimed that both President Uhuey Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will be in attendance.

He encouraged residents of all the 6 Western Kenya counties to attend and learn more about the BBI constitutional amendment push, before making their decision.

“I’m calling upon all Western residents to turn-out in large numbers and attend Bukhungu rally, they will learn more about BBI which help make appropriate decisions,” he said.
