Hospital Ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi was on Tuesday crowned the MCA of the year in a closely contested category that had other ward reps as nominees.
This was during the Mashujaa 2015 Awards organised by Thika-based fashion house, Amo La Moda Kenya.
Speaking after receiving his award Wamwangi thanked everybody who voted for him and for the support that residents in his ward have continued to offer throughout his leadership.
"Young people must continue nurturing their talents. Never give up on your dreams, if I had I had given up on mine I would not be here right now," he said.
He lauded the co-operation from the members of public in the Hospital Ward saying the residents have been exemplary in supporting development projects that he has initiated.
"I urge all my critics to desist from politicking at the moment and let us work to improve the living standards of residents. The elections are two years away and the time for campaigning will come," he added.
Mashujaa Awards is annual event held on October 20, to award and recognize heros and heroines in the arts, fashion, and leadership categories.
This year's event that was attended by several Thika residents was held at the Blue Post Hotel.
