Gatundu North Kikuyu elders association have announced this year’s cultural circumcision which will be held at Munyaka community grounds from 28th November 2015.

Speaking from Munyaka on Monday 23rd November 2015 during the tent making preparation, Njuguna Warugongo, the programme coordinator noted that the organisation targets 1, 100 males who are to undergo a counselling session for 2 days which will then enable them to join the cut programme that is scheduled to take one and a half weeks.

"We are announcing the first circumcision phase this year which we intend to start on Saturday this week. We are targeting 1, 100 boys who we are to be counselled for two days and then undergo the cut and healing process for one and a half week," he said.

Warugongo said that the cut majorly targets the class 8 leavers who are to be made warriors of the community. He said that the traditional kikuyu circumcision ceremony does not end in healing but that a follow up is done to monitor the boys' progress.

"We are only charging the feeding program where every candidate is expected to pay Kshs. 1, 500 for the whole two weeks since the rest of the amount is catered for by our organisation. We are urging boys to come with their father parents or guardians for a briefing on Saturday then the parents can leave them here until the two weeks are over," he added.

Warugongo said that the registration is ongoing and is happening at Gatundu Kikuyu Association in Kamwangi town.
