Kisumu County Government has been urged to utilise institutions on the ground which cover ecosystem to create repost centres for research.

Speaking to journalists at Kisumu Hotel Ewaso Nyiro River South Development Authority managing director Charles Sunkuli said that research centres will help to accelerate development in the county.

Sunkuli said various institutions presented various outcome of their research in the Lake Basin Ecosystem.

"There is need for a clear link between scientific research and social economic development. For us to achieve great economic growth that link has to be established,” noted Sunkuli.

Sunkuli further urged the National Government to increase research funding.

He added that there is a need to deepen research to communities so that this research can have meaningful place in development of the communities and the country.

Sunkuli urged the government to allocate 30 percent of its annual budget to research for this will stir development.
