Villagers from Riakemuma village, Giasaiga sub-location in Sameta sub-county are counting losses,following mongoose attacks on their chicken.

Moffat Ariba,one of the villagers who has lost three of his hens to the mongoose,laments that he has been reduced to zero since he had only three layers out of which he was expecting to breed more stock to empower himself economically.

Speaking to this writer in the village,Ariba a father of two regretted that his children who have been getting eggs from the lost chicken will now do without until he looks for an alternative during this  difficult  econmic times.

"As a farmer,Iam so much disappointed by the wild animals which have exposed me to alot losses after attacking my chicken which I rear on free range system,"lamented Ariba

Ariba said,he will be forced to device a new strategy to ensure his chicken are safe from wild cats and other predators' attacks through construction of improvised chicken cages as he looks forward to intensifying chicken farming  using modern technology.

Florence Maobe,is another victim whose two chicken were killed and consumed by the mongoose,losing about sh1,000 out of which she expected to multiply and purchase a goat for self-reliance and economic empowerment.
