Two bodies of suspected criminals were retrieved from Thika town streets by police on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
A body believed to be that of a wanted criminal who was operating in Makongeni Market in Thika sub-county was found besides a market stall with bullet wounds on Tuesday evening.
And in a separate incident, Thika police on Wednesday morning discovered the body of a man alleged to have been working closely with the wanted criminal lying by the roadside in Thika.
“The body was found 50 metres from Joy Town Special School in Thika town and it was of a smartly dressed middle aged man. Its head was covered in a polythene bag an indication that he may have been suffocated to death. There were struggling marks around his head and to the investigators this may have meant that his killers were brutal in executing him because they used either a rope or a wire,” said a resident who saw the body.
Police said that the two were being pursued by police as there had been several incidences of conning reported against them by a number of Thika residents.
Julius Karagu, 32, and Francis Kinyua, 29, might have been murdered by people they had conned and dumped on the streets, said Thika DCIO Peter Mbuvi.
“Police are investigating the cases to establish the motive behind these heinous killings. They are well known in this area and we know we will get the information soon,” Mbuvi told this writer on Wednesday morning.
The officer called on members of the public to give police space to do their work as lynching suspects is not a solution.
The bodies were ferried to Bishop Gakoe Funeral home in Thika town.
