Speaking in his Thika office on Tuesday, Thika West OCPD Erastus Muthamia said that the particulars will help the police to track down the suspects who commit crime at the lodgings ranging from those who rob their fellow clients or even kill them.

Muthamia said that the move is a precautionary one following a wave of killing of sex workers in Nakuru Town recently.

"Some of these criminal activities easily spread to other areas and that is why we are putting up early measures to stop such things from happening here," Muthamia said.

He warned that the lodging owners who do not adhere to the directive will be held responsible for criminal activities that happen at their premises.

"Police find it hard to trace suspects when they commit crimes in those lodgings. But with the particulars taken, they are deterred from committing crime in the first place and if they do it, tracing them becomes much easier," said Muthamia.
