The mother of Major Peter Mugure who is being held for the murder of his wife Joyce Syombua and their two children has denied knowledge of her grandchildren.
According to Hannah Mugure who was speaking to Citizen TV on Wednesday, she has never met the two children.
She noted that no one has ever informed her about the existence of Shanice Maua aged 10 and Prince Michael, 5.
"And that is why it hurts a lot to hear there are children that I don't know about, I have never seen them and no one has ever told me about them (Na ndio nafinyika sana sana nikiskia ati kuna watoto siwajua, sijawaona, hakuna mtu alikuja hapa kunielezea)," Hannah Mugure said.
She, however, admitted to being introduced to Joyce Syombua by her son in 2005.
"In the year 2005, he came and showed me that girl called Joyce. He told me that he intended to marry her after he was done with school and I went and talked to the girl's mother. (Mwaka wa 2005, alikuja na akakuja kunionyesha huyo msichana anaitwa Joyce. Akaniambia mummy huyu nikimaliza shule nitamuoa na nilienda kwa mama yake tukaongea na yeye)," she narrated.
Mugure's sisters, on the other hand, insisted that their brother was an honest and harmless man.
Bodies of Joyce Syombua and those of her two children were found buried in Makuburini, Thingithu area after they went missing while visiting Peter Mugure at Laikipia Airbase.
