This comes after Murathe maintained that President Uhuru Kenyatta did not have any written MoU with Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking on Sunday during an interview on K24, the former Gatanga MP said Uhuru, just like any other person from Central Kenya, has got only one vote, and it's upon him to decide who he votes for.

"I don't know what you mean by reneging on his promise. The President has only one vote. People can agree but it doesn't mean he can convince Mt Kenya leaders. We are quite clear there was no MoU between us and DP," he said.

Incidentally, Murathe's remarks came about two days after Uhuru said he was not bothered by whoever will be elected the president in 2022.

However, Senator Cheruiyot, a close confidant of DP William Ruto, took on Murathe, accusing him of being a street broker who masquerades as Mt Kenya spokesman.

"So pres Uhuru has one vote but the street broker Murathe can speak on behalf of Mt Kenya..? What madness," said Senator Cheruiyot.

Before the 2017 polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta had promised to support DP Ruto's 2022 bid. However, his tone changed when he reconciled with his political nemesis, Raila Odinga in 2018.

On Saturday, there were reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta snubbed DP William Ruto, who had gone to receive him at JKIA after his trip to Zambia.
