This is after allegations were made by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who said he had heard rumours that Murkomen was a beneficiary of the scandal in which taxpayers lost billions.

In a tweet on Saturday, he asked the Senate Majority Leader to come out and disclose the amount he, alongside his colleagues, have received in other scandals that have been reported in the country.

"Can Murkomen clarify whether the rumours I have heard that he stole 100 million shillings in the recent maize scandal are true. If true, how much money has he & some of the fellas he hangs around with stolen from Kenyans? Siku za mwizi ni ngapi? (How many days does a thief have?)" Mutua posed.

Taking to social media to address the claims, Murkomen said: "Rumours are just but rumours."

The vocal Senator further said Mutua has not been held responsible over alleged corruption because he was being protected.

"You are only surviving because of political gymnastics. If EACC exercises it’s independence under the new management you will never ever talk again. You were dubiously cleared. You are are a governor of vipindiree and cinemaree. You are worse than the cobra squad you used to act," Murkomen tweeted.

The Machakos Governor had said he was not under any investigations, noting he had been cleared accusations of graft which were levelled against him last year.
