A man in Mosop, Rongai constituency stabbed and seriously injured his elder brother on Sunday after a quarrel ensued over a plate of Githeri.
According to eye witness accounts, Timothy Mburu was annoyed on returning home from work on Sunday afternoon when he found his elder brother Aaron Mburu drunk and asleep after eating all the Githeri which was the only meal in the house at the time.
They say that Aaron had on several occasions accused his elder brother of being lazy and a drunkard who never wanted to work.
“Timothy had complained to most of us that he was tired of feeding his elder brother who was a drug and alcohol addict. He even promised to do something bad if his brother continued to misuse food in the house because he was not the one working for it,” noted Julius Musungu, a neighbour.
Confirming the incident, Rongai police boss Joseph Mwamburi noted that a manhunt had been launched and called on residents to alert the nearest police station if the accused is seen anywhere.
“Why should people who are blood brothers fight over food? We have other better ways of solving domestic issues. If arrested, the accused will face the full force of the law,” Mwamburi said.
He further advised youths in the area to desist from crime by engaging in any income generating activities that will keep them busy to help avert such cases.
