Burglars on Monday morning broke into a residential plot in Kaptembwa estate, Nakuru and made away with a motorcycle and other household items.
According to residents who witnessed the incident, five men who they say were armed broke into the plot at around 2am after scaling the gate which they later opened from inside to ferry the motorbike.
Dickson Rugut who resides in the plot, the men scaled the main gate and gained entry into the plot before ransacking two houses whose inhabitants were absent.
He added that they allegedly stole household items including a subwoofer and gas cylinders before speeding away with the motorbike which was parked outside one of the houses.
Rugut further narrated how they were awakened by screams from a neighbour who stepped out to find the main gate wide with two men leaving in a huff.
"I think this is an inside job because they simply broke into houses whose owners were not around. It is a very strange case because that looks like some of us are either criminals or simply abetting crime," he said.
Another resident who only identified herself as Mama Koi however, stated that the criminals were local jobless young men in the area who were always aware of the goings-on in that plot and warned them that their days were numbered.
"There are some jobless men around who always come here on the pretext that they are looking for vacant houses. They know better where the motorbike and other items stolen today have gone to," she claimed.
