Affluent people have been advised to support the needy, poor and bright children in the society so as to alleviate poverty and improve their standards of living.
In his address during the Kenya district training day of the Y’s men club at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) in Thika Town on Thursday, Kenya district governor of the Y’s men club, Mr Jared Musima said there was need for all people who were blessed to give back to society by helping the needy children so as to give them a bright future.
Musima asked the participants of the training to go back and identify needy children and come up with measures through which they could be supported by the Kenya district so that they can be able to attain education and be useful members of the society.
He said if the assistance was channelled through clubs, it was going to be affordable and that members would monitor the progress of the children they were sponsoring.
He said by doing so, club members would after a short time be able to do an audit of how many beneficiaries they had assisted, and how many had become useful members of the society through their social-economic engagements.
Over 30 participants of the training were drawn from Arusha, Githumu in Murang’a, Mombasa, Kisumu, Thika, Nairobi club and Nairobi south which form the Kenya district.
The training was meant to enlighten other clubs on how to fund raise using the easiest methods, to bond and enhance fellowship, learn new ideas of improving the club and share challenges that the clubs faced.
Musima asked the participants to recruit more members who could form strong delegations during international tours.
The participants were asked to visit the 'One shilling library' in Ngegu location where they could teach children how to read.
The children mostly from poor families in the village go to read at the library every Saturday but do not have enough tutors to take them through the sessions.
