Police in Bahati village, Nakuru County, nabbed thousands of litres of kangara and chang'aa brews early Wednesday morning where it had been hidden in a maize plantation.
Area chief Edward Njurai accompanied by Bahati Police Station OCS David Kosgey stormed the farm after a tip-off from members of the community policing and Nyumba Kumi.
It was however a daunting task to get the plastic drums out of the ground where they had been buried. They were eventually removed and destroyed.
One person was arrested during the incident following the arrest of the farm owner identified as Nyambura alias Wakarosi, in a similar operation.
"We came here at 7am after we got a tip-off from the public and we were told where to get the brew buried in the ground. I thank the residents and together we shall win this fight", said the chief.
Kosgey asked the residents to continue with the same spirit of informing police about illicit brews.
"The work started when my officers came and arrested Nyambura. One thing has led to the other till we got the brew. I urge residents to continue giving such useful information till this thing is over," he said.
