Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has laughed at some of the political parties, and party leaders who have fielded candidates for the November 7, Kibra parliamentary by-election.
Speaking on Saturday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Nairobi County chair said some parties have fronted candidates solely to show they are still in existence.
He said judging by the large number of candidates, a number of politicians are using the race as a supremacy battlefield, but noted that the outcome shall be out soon.
"People have seen Kibra as the place to shoe their popularity, even those without any support have come. But when November comes, the people of Kibra will make their decision. (Watu wameona Kibra ndio mahali ya kuonyesha umashuhuri, hata watu ambao hawana wafuasi wamekuja. Lakini ikifika Novemba watu wa Kibra wataamua ni nani)," he said.
Aladwa made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show.
He called for a clean race, hinting that the party is ready to accept the results in case it loses.
"It is fine whoever wins, you know he who rejects a defeat is not a competitor. (Atakayekuwa mshindi ni sawa, unajua asiyekubali kushindwa si mshindani)," he added.
Also in the race include; McDonald Mariga of the ruling Jubilee Party, Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Eliud Owalo and Khamisi Butichi of the Ford Kenya party.
