Sports Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has hailed the Kenya National Men Basketball team after making it to the semi finals of the ongoing inaugural AfroCan Basketball Championship in Bamako, Mali.
In a tweet on Thursday morning, the CS lauded the team for their continued efforts in flying the Kenyan flag high.
"Congratulations to our very own Morans @bballkenya for winning the @FIBA #AFROCAN2019 match against Tunisia and qualifying for the semi-finals. We are truly proud of this achievement and will continue to cheer the team on to the finals. @kbf_basketball #TwendeKazi," she said.
The national basketball team popularly known as "Morans" edged past Tunisia in a tight match that ended in extra time.
The Morans won the match with a margin of 6 points. The game ended at 82-76 points.
Kenya will now face Morocco in the semi finals on Thursday night at 21:15 Hours.
Morocco played Mali in the quarter finals where they thrashed them 69-61 points.
Democratic Republic of Congo will face Angola in the second semi finals at 23:30 Hours on Thursday night.
Winner from the two groups will proceed to the finals of the tightly contested AfroCan competitions in Mali.
