A bus ferrying 45 passengers to Kitui Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting has been swept into a river.

Mbooni East Sub-County Police Commander Agnes Omojong' has confirmed that no one was injured.

"I can confirm that all the people have been accounted for, no injuries but I can't tell whether they were headed to BBI rally in Kitui, I just know they were passengers," said Ms Omojong'.

Kisau Kiteta MCA Wambua Masavu confirmed to Standard Digital that the bus was one of the vehicles hired to ferry people to the BBI rally at Kitui Stadium.

The bus was carried by the water after the river banks broke on Friday night.
