Speaking during a boda boda meeting in Ndumberi, the chairman of one of the Saccos Mr. Eliud Munene said that corruption was highly promoted by traffic officers along Kiambu road who would demand for Kshs. 50 per boda boda and per trip. He said that this has been ongoing for a week now and that it has totally affected the industry as most of these operators spend about Kshs. 200-250 due to the trips. He said that the officers are mostly operating along Thindigwa and at the bypass.

"We want this issue of corruption to come to an end and by that we are calling on the EACC to arrest such officers," said Munene.

He also warned operators against giving any bribe as they were promoting the vice that is affecting the whole nation.

Speaking from his office on Monday as well, the Traffic base commander Inspector Gabriel Mulei denied the allegations claiming that his officers don't engage in bribe taking. He said that there have never been any case reported by any operator claiming that officers are corrupt. He assured operators that if there are any corrupt officers, they are willing to take serious actions against them if they report and evidence is found.

"We are focused on maintaing order on the roads and I have never received any corruption complaints from motorists," said Mulei.
