Movie shop owners in Gautndu sub-county have been warned against selling pornographic material.
Kiganjo chief John Kimani said continued selling of pornographic material has led to moral decay in the area.
He said in particular that traders selling movies to people below 18 will be scrutinised before being issued with licences.
"Children who watch pornography at an early age practice sex and most of them end up being addicted as they cannot do without it," he said.
He reiterated that children who watch pornography tend to practice what they see including sexual assault, rape and may lead to sexual molestation to other children.
Pornography in Kenya according to the Penal Code is illegal and punishable by jail sentence.
Chief Kimani said authorities in the area will not allow businessmen to make money at the expense of morality.
He said traders who will continue selling pornographic material to minors will be prosecuted.
