Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has warned local leaders to desist from making utterances which may fuel retaliatory inter-community and residents-residents fights due to political rivalry.
Speaking to the public in Thika town on Wednesday, the Governor asked politicians to be careful with their utterances to avoid inciting communities to protest, but rather find better ways of solving the problems faced.
“Any person in power should not dare speak in a manner that will ignite retaliatory attacks by communities that have witnessed attacks from bandits and unnecessary demonstrations,” he said.
The Governor pointed out that the residents in some areas have been demonstrating after they were incited by the leaders thus causing damage to the business community.
He urged people not to take the politicians statements seriously as they are just after making their names famous to the public domain.
Kabogo was caught up in traffic jam when residents of Thika town closed the road leading to his office when the deputy President William Ruto toured the area thus an attempt to address them was thwarted by the irate mob.
The deputy President took control of the meeting and directed the leaders not to incite the people despite their political differences.
