Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission will press charges against suspended Kisumu County Assembly Majority Leader Samuel Ong’ou for mobilizing crowd to attack their officers and resist arrest.
The Commission Western Region acting deputy director Edwin Waudo said the officers were attacked and suffered bodily harm when they went to arrest him.
Waudo said his officers were attacked by a group of youths when they went to arrest Ong’ou at his rural home in Awasi, Muhoroni constituency.
He said charges are being prepared that may include resisting arrest before he is taken to court tomorrow.
“We are in the process and preparing more charges for Ong’ou, the matter will now be resolved in court,” he said.
Ong’ou who has been evading arrest over corruption claims associated with international trips Kisumu MCAs made last year later presented himself to Railways police station in the company of his lawyer.
He is among the assembly public service board members who are facing the same charges.
Three of the board members, former Speaker Ann Adul, former minority leader Edwin Anayo and former clerk Nelco Sagwe have been arrested and are being detained at Railways police station awaiting appearance in court tomorrow.
