Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has vowed to shoot down the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking during a press briefing in Eldoret Town on Monday, the senator argued that the initiative does not address issues affecting ordinary Kenyans.
"I want to state categorically that I will not support the BBI report since its aim is to create positions for some politicians for them to get political mileage and not to benefit the common mwananchi," said the senator.
The Jubilee lawmaker further noted that he will lobby other politicians from the Rift Valley region to reject the report.
"Leaders supporting the BBI have ill motives for the country since the push for constitutional amendments that BBI advocates would strain the country’s economic resources. We will not accept this and Kenyans will reject the initiative," he added.
Charagei warned Kenyans against supporting the BBI report, arguing that they are the ones who will suffer at the expense of some self-centred politicians.
He further dismissed the initiative, opining that it does not address inclusivity as well as the equitable distribution of national resources.
Cherargei reiterated that he will lead a campaign against the report should it propose the expansion of the Executive.
The report by the BBI task force is ready to be handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
