According to KURA, the closure of the highway is aimed at allowing for the demolition of the footbridge as construction continues. Motorists have been advised to find alternative routes to their respective destinations during this period when the road will remain closed.

The engineers will start working on the road from 6 am to 6 pm for all of the four days. The contractor will be unveiling a new and modern footbridge, which is considered more efficient compared to the current one.

In a statement released to the media houses on Monday, KURA said it regrets the inconveniences it will cause. The authority, however, asked the road users to cooperate in order to give the contractor an easy time to work on the project.

“We apologize for the inconvenience that may be caused as we endeavour to provide efficient urban road network, ” read a statement from KURA.

Motorists from Lang’ata Road through Mbagathi Way will be expected to move ahead until they reach Mbagathi Road before joining Mtongwe Road. They will then drive to Mbaruk Road before they join Muchai Drive.

From this point, the motorists can pass via Coptic Hospital to join Ngong Road. Road users from Ngong Town will be expected to drive through Ngong Road then move to City Mortuary Roundabout before they rejoin Ngong Road.

While at this point, they can easily drive to the Muchai Drive diversion.
