The initial good political relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto is no longer there, political analyst Martin Andati has observed.

Andati says that the recent happenings between the two-point at an eroded relationship and a widening rift between them as individuals.

He opines that though they remain together, it is as a result of the fact that the president cannot sack the DP, but the truth of the matter is that they are no longer working as a team.

In an interview on Radio Maisha on Monday, Andati likened the Uhuru and Ruto union to a worn-out marriage, which is only awaiting a divorce to be declared over.

"The marriage between Uhuru and Ruto has ended, what remains is the divorce (Ndoa ya Uhuru and Ruto ilishatibuka, kilichobaki ni talaka)," he stated.

He suggested that so clear is the situation now that Ruto can no longer keep fooling the country that things remain intact between him and the president, as he has been claiming.

He also remarked that the DP can no longer hide the fact that he is no longer in Uhuru's inner circle using his earlier claim that they were playing a trick on ODM leader Raila Odinga.

"Initially he was trying to fool his people that they are playing cards but now it can be clearly seen (Mwanzoni alikuwa anajaribu kudanganya watu wake eti wanachezea Raila karata lakini sasa inaonekana peupe)," he added.

The said widening rift was openly demonstrated during the launch of the BBI report last year, where Uhuru was seen to be more jovial towards Raila while sidelining the DP.

Also, the two have not been attending functions together as was the case before, with Uhuru last week sending Kieni MP Kanini Kega to represent him at a funeral service in Nyeri county.

Surprisingly, the event was also attended by the DP.
